Commercial Relationship Between Jordan & Italy
The commercial relationship between Jordan and Italy is developing and trade between the countries is increasing every year. According to the Jordanian Statistical Department, for the first 11 months of 2006, Italian exports to Jordan increased by almost 18.1% with a value of over $378 million. This is up from the same period of 2005, where total exports reached $320 million. Jordanian exports to Italy also increased by 13%, last year.
Italy is the sixth supplier to Jordan and the second among EU countries, behind Germany. The main Italian products exported to Jordan are: machinery, (for agro-industry, marble industry, plastic industry, packing and packaging equipment), representing one third of the total exports, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, building materials, electrical equipment, jewellery and foodstuff.
Last year, the main Jordanian products exported to Italy were chemicals, foodstuff and. Over the last two years, chemicals have represented about 50% of total exports from Jordan to Italy.
Jordanian exports to Italy also have increased since 2005, registering a total amount of $16.1 million in the last year alone.
